Looking for an EASY and inexpensive gift idea? These glass tile necklaces make fun gifts and they’re super easy and fun to make. Last year, we made them for the kid’s teachers with their school colors and mascot. You can purchase the supplies right here. Each kit includes the supplies to create 10 necklaces (10 bails, 10 chains, 10 glass tiles) and shipping is also included. You will have to provide the adhesive. See instructions below.

glass tile charm instructions:

1.     Create your images. You can use photos, artwork, patterns, logos, etc. Avoid using small detailed photos and images. You can print on photo paper from local photo processing center, laser prints, or ink jet (when I use ink jet prints, I spray a light layer of clear acrylic spray over it to prevent any bleeding)

2.     Besides your purchased jewelry supplies from Legacy, you will also need a small amount of Modpodge
(and/or Diamond Glaze) and E6000 adhesive. These are available at craft stores and are inexpensive.

3.     After making your prints, cut into squares. Use sharp scissors to round the corners of each square. Use glass tile as a guide to see if you need to trim. The artwork square should be slightly smaller than the glass.

4.     Brush a thin layer of Modpodge on the flat textured side of the glass tile. Place your artwork square face down onto the Modpodge (so you can see the image from the smooth side.) Slide it around a little to get out any bubbles and place in the correct position. Hold firmly for a couple seconds especially around the edges. Allow to dry.

5.     Squeeze a small dab of the E6000 onto the bail and place onto the back of the tile. It’s ok if some excess squeezes out. Center it. Allow to dry.

6.     Brush a layer of Modpodge on the back to give the tile a finished look. Or if you want a glass-like finish on the back, use Diamond Glaze.

7.     Add charm to included ball chain or key chain. Ball chains can be cut to a smaller size with regular scissors. Or use a chain/bracelet you already have
